W¡!d is an annual camping weekend opportunity to rest, laugh, dance, get outside, share our art, and foster community. For exploring and expanding, for seeing old friends and making new ones, and for appreciating the miracle of nature.
Whether you’re new to camping, unsure about dancing, or a seasoned woodland creature, you are welcome. Come as you are, leave the rest in LA.
W¡!d 2026
2pm Thurs. June 18 – Noon Sun. June 21
This year we are celebrating over Juneteenth weekend to get that extra holiday bonus on Friday. Hopefully having it in June will mean we get to have a campfire.. but that remains to be seen.
So… call in sick on Thursday, June 18. Get out of town and away from the noise /air pollution and come camp, dance, and recharge your soul in the forest
In a year will you be glad you worked a couple more days? Or will you fondly recall that long weekend you danced in the woods with the coolest, kindest weirdos in LA?
No 4th of July fireworks this year, but we will watch the sun set on Beeks Rocks nonetheless (pictured above).
If you have not been before, all the info you need is below. Reach out with any questions, requests to help find some gear (priority to first time campers), or if you want to contribute some art or supplies.
For all those returning the main change this year is that we are going to open up the 3rd site, Campsite Acorn, to kids and families. It has traditionally been our quiet camp anyway, and anyone looking for a quiter place to pitch a tent is still welcome over there, but this year we are also going to let anyone with children bring them and set up their family camp over there if they desire.
NOTE TO PARENTS: There will still be all the usual debauchery. How you tell your kids about what adults do that kids cannot is up to you, but it may be in plain view.
As always, DJ Handsome Mike will be spinning tunes throughout the weekend.
As well as special guests:
Cam Outlaw with a mini, homemade, electronic set.
Cj Tywoniak with a solo electric/acoustic guitar set.
…and also maybe featuring… YOU?? (let us know if you want to!)
Some ideas/ things we’d like to source: battery packs, karaoke?!, projector, more lights/ lasers, photo-booth/ someone (with a flash) taking photos?, let us know!…
This year we are especially in need of big battery packs or a small generator, stingers, and some AX1s if you have them (for our campfire). If you’ve got this kind of gear please let Joe know.
If you are new to camping or are missing some gear, reach out. Someone in the community will likely be able to help you find what you need.
If you want to attend but are not down with sleeping outside (its good for your soul but maybe not your back), you can look into some cabins or Air BnBs in Arrowbear. The campsite is only about 30 mins away from town.
That’s what its all about, making art with your friends. – Sara
To help cover campsite reservation costs please Venmo $30/ person to Joe @jschmitz
DO NOT BRING ANY FIREWORKS!
Pray to the forest and rain gods that we’ll be allowed to have a camp fire again this year, but as always the word of the Forest Service is final say. We will NOT be the next gender reveal forest fire headline. We will not burn anything that is not in the designated campfire ring.
If you are so inclined, costumes & festival attire are highly encouraged. Dress up, embrace play, get weird. As our dear friend Nick Street would say, “Whimsy makes life better.”
——
When thinking about someone to invite the considerations are: uncommonly kind, wildly responsible, and judiciously rowdy. Its important this space feels inclusive and safe for all to be/ express themselves (and get a little weird).
Carpooling is HIGHLY recommended if you can manage it. Would also recommend leaving LA before noon or risking heavy traffic
If you would like to offer a ride or are looking for a ride, please let Joe know.
